How does the ordering process work?

Creating your book takes about 5 minutes. Choose your book theme, build your character (or upload a photo), answer a few questions about the person the book is for, preview the result, and place your order. Once payment is confirmed, we create your unique book with every page illustrated specifically for the details you provided. You will receive an email confirmation immediately and a second email when your book is ready, usually within 2 to 5 business days for printed books.

What can I customize in each book?

Every book is fully personalised to the person it is for. You can customise: the character's appearance (skin tone, hair style, hair colour, eye colour, and clothing), the character's name which appears on every page, the story details specific to that theme (such as the birth date and family details for a newborn book, or how you met for a couples book), a personal dedication message printed on the inside cover, and the book format (softcover or hardcover). Each theme has its own set of questions. The Adventure book asks about the child's personality and favourite setting, while the Our Story couples book asks about how you met and your favourite shared memory.

How long does delivery take?

Printed softcover and hardcover books are produced on demand and typically ship within 2 to 3 business days. Standard delivery takes 3 to 5 business days after shipping, depending on your location. Expedited shipping options are available at checkout if you need it sooner. For gifts with a specific date, we recommend ordering at least 7 days in advance.

How much do the books cost?

Softcover printed books start from $55. Hardcover printed books start from $69. All prices include full personalisation, there is no extra charge for the customisation. Free shipping is available when you order 2 or more books.

Question 5

Can I get a refund if something goes wrong?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If there is an error in the book caused by a technical problem on our side, we will reprint or refund at no charge. If you made an error in the personalisation details you provided, we will do our best to help. Contact us within 24 hours of ordering and we can often correct it before production. For printed books, we cannot accept returns for personalised items unless they are defective. If your book arrives damaged, contact us with a photo and we will send a replacement.

What formats are available?

We offer two formats. The Softcover (from $55) is a flexible, lightweight printed book on 170gsm matte paper, perfect for everyday reading. The Hardcover (from $69) is a premium quality printed book with a rigid cover, designed to last for years and be passed down. Both formats contain the same personalised story and illustrations.

We ship to all countries in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination and are shown at checkout. We are working on expanding to additional countries. If yours is not listed, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your order.

What about the print and paper quality?

Our printed books use 170gsm premium matte paper for the interior pages, thick enough to feel substantial, smooth enough for vivid colour reproduction. The softcover uses a flexible matte laminate cover that resists fingerprints. The hardcover uses a rigid board cover with a protective matte finish. All books are printed using professional inkjet technology with pigment-based inks that resist fading. Books are produced locally to reduce shipping time and carbon footprint.

Do you offer gift options?

Yes. If you are ordering as a gift, you can have the book shipped directly to the recipient by entering their address at checkout, and add a personal dedication that we print on the first page. You can also purchase a gift card which the recipient can use to create their own personalised book.

Are the stories age-appropriate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every story is written and reviewed for age-appropriateness. Kids books are designed for the age group specified. Our Newborn books use gentle, emotional language for parents reading aloud, while adventure and superhero books are designed for children aged 4 to 12 to enjoy independently. Couples and Favorite People books are written for adult readers. If you have any concerns about the content of a specific theme, contact us before ordering.

Can I order multiple copies of the same book?

Yes. Once your book is created, you can order as many copies as you like. Grandparents, family members, and friends often want their own copy. The price per copy is the same regardless of quantity. If you need a large number of copies (10 or more), contact us directly for a bulk pricing discussion.

What happens to my photos and personal data?

Accepted Answer

The photos you upload are never stored on our servers. They are used only to create the illustrated portrait that appears in your book, then deleted immediately. The portraits remain in your account and you can remove them at any time. We never sell your data, share it with third parties for advertising, or use it to train external models.

How long does delivery take and can I track my order?

Accepted Answer

Production takes 2 to 5 business days from order confirmation. Shipping then takes 3 to 5 business days within Europe, and 5 to 10 business days for the United States, Canada, and Australia. You receive a tracking link by email as soon as the parcel ships. If you need a book by a specific date, contact us at contact@spark-stories.com and we will confirm whether your timeline is feasible.

Are the books made sustainably?

Books are printed locally in Paris on 170gsm FSC-certified matte paper. Local production keeps shipping distances short and our paper sourcing is responsibly managed forestry. We do not make claims we cannot verify, so we avoid vague labels like vegetable inks unless we can document them.
